Neon and Polka Dots

Neon colors are ALL the rage this summer! Which, to be honest can be very intimidating. So, start small, with either bracelets or a watch, then move up to a purse or a statement necklace. Then when you're ready, move up to a shirt, skirt, or even pants!!
OR just take the plunge like I did.

My amazing mom just picked up this neon lime green polka dot slik shirt, for me at the thrift store. I love it!! It's so cheerful and summery.

My challenge to you, is bring something bright into your wardrobe this summer, if you haven't already. It's a fun way to accessorize or to be bold. Good luck!

I would love to hear what fun ways you added Neon to your wardrobe! Email, Comment, or Twitter me.

Wednesday Weekly Obsessions

So, this past week, I'm not going to lie...I've been lazy! I haven't really done much of anything. I think, I'm going to blame it on the heat...But in actuality I was obsessed this week with "Words with Friends"!! That is one of the reasons, why I did not get ANYTHING accomplished this past week...

1. Words with Friends on the Ipad.

2. I probably went to Luci's @ least 5 times this past week, to get their Tea and their Banana Walnut Muffin...yummie. If you have not been, and you live in the Phoenix area you should go!

My husband and I went last Saturday night to Luci's, to our surprise there was live jazz... They sang the song we danced to at our wedding, Moon Dance by Van Morrison, so we stood up at our seats and started dancing, even though NO ONE else was even remotely dancing...I thought it was romantic.

3. I was obsessed with my "new" necklace, I got last week at the thrift store. It's perfect! I can tie it to whatever length I want, plus it's black!! I love black.

my Lustful Summer..Prada

I am in LOVE with the Spring 2011 Prada line. The bold colors, the prints, AH...I'm in heaven when I look at this collection.  My top 3 picks, are the Banana Skirt, the Sunglasses, and the Orange and Pink Striped Fitted Dress.

Would you be so BOLD to wear a banana print? Or, would you feel like Chicita Banana?

Happy 4th....

Wishing you a safe and happy 4th...

Today, in the Valley of the Sun, the high was only 103...but the humidity was well over 30%. So, when choosing my outfit, I needed to have something flowy, but still patriotic.

I turned a vintage tube top dress into a skirt. I paired that with a tank top I've had since high school, and finished it off with some red platforms. Red, white, and blue.

Tank: Calvin Klein
Skirt: Vintage Tube Top Dress

My Etsy Loves....

Etsy is by far one of my FAVORITE websites....One can find literally anything, your heart desires and what's even more appealing, at least to me...is most of the stuff is handmade.

Here is some jewelry I recently just found, the shop is called
Sam McCain, from the United Kingdom. They use vintage cabochons (A convex top and flat bottom),  beads and jewels, from the 1940s through to the 1980s. There earrings range from $18-20.

Here are some of my favorites

"Perfect Pink"

"Romantic Rose"

"Brandy Alexander"

"Zombie"

Another fun store I found on Etsy is Berkley Illustrations, from Portland OR. There artwork is so unique and fun!! I am in LOVE with these three illustrations....
Prints range from $10-35.

"Cheetah"

"White Rabbit"

"Peacock"

If you havent been to Etsy.com GO NOW....and if you have, what are some of your favorite stores to go look at, shop at, or just find inspirations....

Canning Jam..

When I was a little girl, I would spend the summers in Kansas City with my grandparents, in their big farm house. Those summers to me are like precious gold, I carry them very safely in my heart. Those memories consist of canning, which we would go to gardens, pick fruits and veggies, then consuming a whole day in the kitchen to can all the goodies we got. My grandmother, aunts and mom would all get together and can. Those memories are so precious to me that I wanted to create some more.

So here I am on my summer vacation and wanting to make something super cute for Christmas presents, and I thought....OH I should make JAM. Its cute, fun, and it will be future memories. So I had my mom come down from Cottonwood and my mother-in-law who is always willing, come help me with this little adventure

1. We had to go to one of my best friends Kim's (lovingcoffeeandsunshine.blogspot.com) house and pick figs, she has a beautiful fig tree, you can see it on her blog.

2. Cut and washed all the fruit
Raspberries, Peaches, Mango, Figs, and Strawberries

3. Had to then sterilize all the jars

4. Smash the fruit

5. In one pot heat all the Jam ingredients, in another heat the lids

6. When done heating, we poured the Jam into jars, sealed and WHAM its done

We made Raspberry Peach, Strawberry Fig, and Tropical Jam

We ended up with 3 dozen mini jars of jam.

This was SUCH a fun thing to do with my mom and mother-in-law!
Plus it was super easy....Now Iam excited to make some labels and find some awesome fabric to place on the lids.

Thrift Store finds......

Yesterday my mother and I spent the whole day thrifting. Literally the whole day. I was exhausted by the end of it. BUT I did find some awesome finds!!!

1. Found some awesome watches to stack together. Now if you are going to try this look I would recommend having at least one watch that actually tells the time. Found that out the hard way yesterday.

Watches Total..$5

2. I found this awesome pink velvet chair and ottoman. We have a guest bedroom that I am going to convert into my office/guest bedroom. My theme.....is Betsey Johnson, so the walls are pink!!!  Very pink...like WOW you have a Pepto Bismol colored room...which truthfully I will probably not keep it that pink but do more, of a softer pink. But for now I am just looking for other treasures I can add to the room. Like this sweet chair and ottoman.

chair.. $7
 ottoman..$3

3. I found a Black and White Striped Mens XL Tank Top that I am converting into a dress.

6. Lucky Black Skinny Jeans
7. Two Vintage Silk Short Sleeves Tops- one cream the other a purple grey
8.Two necklaces

Denim Jacket..$4
Striped Tank/Dress...$1

So, those where my finds of yesterday, thrifting around Phoenix in the 115 degree weather...I'm pretty sure that was not a smart idea, but the Lord did blessed me with some good finds, which I am very excited to add to my wardrobe.
